So, what are Conference and District events?

August 4, 2011 at 7:04 pm by

As United Methodists, we are divided into geographic zones somewhat like school districts or sports leagues.  Currently we are in the Arkansas Annual Conference, which means all United Methodist Churches in the state are in the same conference.  Each conference is then broken down into districts.  We are currently in the Northwest District (Benton, Washington, Madison and Carroll Counties) but we may be merging with the West District (Fort Smith region).  In our state, there has been an ongoing commitment to youth ministry.  The Arkansas Conference Council on Youth Ministries (CCYM or ACCYM) has events throughout the year.  Our District Council on Youth Ministries (DCYM) also does some events.  I hope you will try to attend one of these during this coming year!  Keep an eye on the calendar for “district” or “conference” events.

To help the storm victims, first, pray.  Second, keep up to date through the following links:

For updates on area disaster relief, go to www.nwdist.org.

You can make financial donations in one of three ways:

  1. At the church or through our Paypal address listed on the homepage.
  2. Through the Arkansas Annual Conference for statewide relief at www.arumc.org.
  3. For national and international relief, go to the United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR) at www.umcor.org.

100% OF ALL FINANCIAL DONATIONS GO TO THE VICTIMS OF NATURAL DISASTERS.

To donate goods, please click here to see instructions for Cleaning Buckets and Health Kits.  For instate disasters,  Disaster Meal Kits and bottled water can also be made to assist the Arkansas Rice Depot who has helped feed those affected.  Click here for those instructions.  We will collect them at Elm Springs United Methodist Church on Sunday.  We are located on Highway 112 2 miles North of Highway 412.  (click here for a map.)

Please do NOT donate clothing.  We have resources to help with that need.

Thank you and God bless,
