Souper Bowl of Caring

This Sunday, February 5 is Souper Bowl Sunday. Yes, that is spelled right. See, while most of us might never ever go the Super Bowl, let alone ever have a chance of playing in it, we can all be a part of the starting line up for Elm Springs to tackle hunger. When you come to church Sunday morning and to the potluck Sunday night at 5:00 p.m., please bring a canned or boxed food good (ex. beans, soup, cereal or this month’s mission item – mac and cheese) that can be donated to a local food pantry; you can also attach a dollar bill to the item.
This is a part of a nationwide effort that started in 1990 when a youth group in South Carolina decided to do something to help others through Super Bowl Sunday. After that the Souper Bowl of Caring has been growing and getting stronger each year. Last year they collected $3,212,276.07 in cash and food items for 118 Charities! You can check out their website at souperbowl.org
And make sure when you come to the potluck you bring a friend and your favorite tailgate foods to share. There may even be a big game playing in the Fellowship Hall.
Go Team!
